Two Westfield parks test positive for West Nile

Mosquitoes carrying the West Nile virus have been found in two Westfield parks.

The Hamilton County Health Department indicated mosquitoes taken from Quaker Park and Asa Bales Park have tested positive for the virus, which can cause West Nile fever.

The Hamilton County Health Department began fogging areas nearby both parks on Tuesday.

Health officials encourage residents to use bug spray when outdoors and avoid being outdoor activities when mosquitoes are active (especially late afternoon, dusk to dawn and early morning).

Resident are also encouraged to apply an EPA-registered insect repellent containing DEET, picaridin, IR3535, oil of lemon eucalyptus or para-menthane-diol to clothes and exposed skin.
