Two local candidates will take part in forum to discuss Indiana’s environmental issues

Submitted

Indiana United for our Future (INUF), the state’s first environmental political action committee (PAC), next week will hold the first in a series of environmental forums for candidates the PAC has endorsed. The forum will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 15 at Sophia Square, 110 W. Main St., Carmel.

So far, three candidates from Hamilton County have been endorsed by INUF and all three were invited to participate.

INUF was founded to give the environment a voice in Indiana’s state legislature. The organization’s mission is to support political candidates who will enact environmentally-friendly policies that address the rising threat of climate change, as well as protect Indiana’s wetlands, forests, native species and natural resources.

To date, the PAC has endorsed 11 candidates. This series of forums around the state will give the public a chance to ask questions about environmental issues affecting them. Voters will be able to find out how candidates plan to address these issues in the Statehouse.

The endorsed candidates attending the Carmel forum are Matt McNally, running in House District 39, and Victoria Garcia Wilburn, running in House District 32. The panel will be moderated by environmental lawyer and expert Larry Kane, who formerly served as director of the Indiana Department of Environmental Management.
