It’s going to be hot outside – and even hotter inside the Palladium this Saturday evening.

On Saturday, April 23, five-time GRAMMY Award-winning double bassist Edgar Meyer will join Carmel Symphony Orchestra (CSO) under Artistic Director Janna Hymes for the final Masterworks performance of the season.

Meyer’s unparalleled technique and musicianship, along with his gift for composition, have positioned him at the top of his game, recognized and appreciated by a vast and varied audience for his styles in classical, bluegrass, newgrass and jazz.

Meyer will join the CSO in performing the Bottesini Concerto No. 2 for Double Bass & Orchestra, as well as his own composition, Concerto for Double Bass in D. Among other selections on the program are popular pieces by Joplin (“The Entertainer”), Gershwin (“Lullaby for Strings” and “An American in Paris”), Gould (“Pavane” from Symphony No. 2) and Zimmer (Pirates of the Caribbean).

The performance begins at 7:30 p.m. Please welcome this IU-Bloomington Jacobs School of Music graduate back to the Hoosier state. Tickets start at just $18 and are available by calling the Palladium Fifth Third Bank Box Office at (317) 843-3800 or at CarmelSymphony.org.
