Toddler drowns in Noblesville creek

The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an accidental drowning in the 500 block of Mill Farm Road in Noblesville. Deputies responded to the area shortly after 1 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 22 on the report of a missing person.

Although it is still early in the investigation, officials believe a toddler and a sibling opened the front door of the house and wandered away while the children’s mother was in the shower. The mother found one child nearby but was unable to locate the second child. Deputies dispatched to the call found the missing child in a creek several houses away. They immediately began resuscitation efforts and took the child to medics who continued efforts to revive the child.

The toddler was transported to Riverview Health and was pronounced dead.

Hamilton County Coroner John Chalfin identified the child as a 22-month-old female. The child’s name had not been released as of press time.
