Tigers trounce Wildcats in big overtime win

Fishers scored a huge victory at Lawrence North on Tuesday, as the Tigers beat the Class 4A No. 8 Wildcats 63-57 in an overtime game.

Fishers, ranked No. 15 in the IBCA one-class poll, got off to a good start, leading 15-6 after one quarter. Talia Harris had six points, with Allison Scheu scoring five. The Tigers then led 31-21 at halftime, with Nevaeh Dickman adding six points.

Lawrence North came back in the second half, scoring 16 points to cut Fishers’ lead to 41-37 by the end of the third quarter. The Wildcats forced overtime with another 16 points in the fourth period, which finished with the teams tied 53-53. The Tigers outscored LN 10-4 in the extra period, Talia Harris made 6 of 8 free throws to clinch the game.

Scheu finished with 16 points, followed by Dickman with 15 and Harris with 14. Joirdyn Smith made her return to Fishers after an injury; she made a 3-pointer in the fourth quarter.

The Tigers are 16-5 and finish regular season and Hoosier Crossroads Conference play Friday at Franklin Central.
