Tigers split games at Logansport

The Fishers Tigers softball team split a pair at Logansport on Saturday, April 18. The Tigers lost to the host Berries, 2-1, to start but finished strong with a 13-6 victory against Lowell.

Fishers led 1-0 against Logansport behind a two-out single from junior Kennedy Shockley (2-for-3) before the Berries responded with a two-run bottom half of the third.

Logansport starter Brooklynn Hagerty pitched a complete game with 18 strikeouts. She limited the Tigers to two hits and two walks.

The Tigers’ slugfest with Lowell included 25 combined hits, including a pair of home runs by junior Brooke Clayton (2-for-4, 6 RBI).

Clayton’s fourth homer of the season in the top of the first scored two. Her fifth longball this year plated three runs to put Fishers ahead 9-5 in the fourth.

Fishers logged 12 hits. Senior Adrianne Cook (2-for-3, RBI) and Shockley (2-for-4, 2 RBI) finished with doubles. Junior Cate Summerfiel (3-for-5, 2 RBI, SB) had a two-run triple in the sixth.

Sophomore Grace Walterman (1-for-3) had two stolen bases.

Freshman Caroline Smock earned the win to remain unbeaten at 5-0 this season. She pitched 5.2 innings with one walk, five strikeouts, one unearned run and seven hits allowed.
