Tigers finish weekend with victory over Penn

After two consecutive narrow victories, the top-ranked Class 4A Fishers Tigers rediscovered their scoring rhythm inside the Jungle’s friendly confines on Saturday, Feb. 14, with a 74-54 win against 4A Penn.

The Tigers had four players finish in double figures led by senior Kai McGrew’s team-high 18 points to upend the state-ranked Kingsmen on Valentine’s Day.

Unbeaten Fishers jumped out to a strong 17-10 lead after the first quarter and upped the margin 33-20 by halftime to win its 21st consecutive game.

Both teams rolled to 20-point third quarters, but 21-point final frame sealed Fishers’ back-to-back weekend sweep with a kiss.

Senior Ethan Hillsman had 17 points for the Tigers. Junior Cooper Zachary followed with 13 points, and senior Jean-Claude L’Homme added 10 points.

Junior Levi Walker had seven points. Freshmen Tristan Breland and Max Hopkins chipped in six and two points, respectively.

Sophomore Caleb Coolman posted a game-high 26 points for Penn. Senior Lucas Obermeyer had 14 points.

Fishers heads to Zionsville on Friday to conclude its HCC schedule. The Tigers have clinched a share of the HCC title for a third straight year and for a fifth time in six seasons. They’ve won 24 consecutive HCC games.
