The Hamilton Southeastern Royals applied the pressure early Thursday night, but the Fishers Tigers provided the finishing touch during their annual Mudsock rivalry game.
HSE (11-5, 4-3 HCC) loaded the bases with two outs in the top of the first and grabbed a 1-0 lead before host Fishers (8-9, 4-3 HCC) staved off the threat and charged back to win its sixth straight Mudsock, 4-1.
An RBI-ground out by senior David Pina tied the game 1-1 in the bottom of the first, and Carter Strole’s RBI-sacrifice fly in the third put the Tigers in control.
Strole (2-for-2, 3 RBI, 2 doubles), a junior, drove in two more runs with a two-out double in the bottom of the fifth to keep the Mudsock trophy firmly in Fishers’ grasp.
Senior Owen Lukac finished 3-for-3, as Fishers tallied eight hits.
A walk issued to senior Chase Bradle plated HSE’s run during the Hoosier Crossroads Conference contest, bringing home senior Parker O’Steen (1-for-4), who initiated the two-out rally with a single.
Junior Clark Bucher (1-for-4) and senior Cy Cole (1-for-2) both lined doubles, but HSE left nine runners on base.
Senior Hayden Werner earned the win, and junior Austin Conley picked up the save.
