Three Hamilton County baseball teams are among the final eight in their classes to reach the semi-state level and will get an opportunity Saturday to play for a spot in the state finals.
Westfield travels to Four Winds Fields at Coveleski Stadium to play in the Class 4A north semi-state, hosted by South Bend Riley. The Shamrocks will take on Goshen in the second semifinal game, which starts at 2 p.m. Valparaiso and Fort Wayne Snider play in the first semifinal at 11 a.m., with the championship set for 7 p.m.
Guerin Catholic won its first-ever regional title last Saturday at Jasper’s Ruxer Field. The Golden Eagles head back there this Saturday for the 3A south semi-state, playing New Palestine at 11 a.m. Greensburg takes on the host Jasper Wildcats in the second semifinal at 2 p.m., with the championship starting at 7 p.m.
University will compete in the 2A south semi-state, hosted by Castle at the University of Evansville. The Trailblazers face off against Providence at 11 a.m. in the first semifinal, followed by a 2 p.m. second semifinal between Evansville Mater Dei and Shenandoah. The championship is scheduled for 8 p.m.
