Three dedicated Carmel firefighters – Joseph Box, Ronald Powers, and Corey Richards – recently graduated from paramedic school, enhancing their emergency medical response skills.

Carmel Fire Department Chief of EMS Andrew Young praised their achievement.

“I am really proud of these individuals,” Young said. “They have put in a lot of time and effort into becoming paramedics. I am confident they will be successful paramedics.”

The rigorous program provided extensive training in medical procedures and emergency response, preparing them to handle various medical emergencies with skill and compassion. Over the past year, they have committed themselves to an intense training program, logging hundreds of hours in lectures, clinicals, and study sessions. Their coursework covered a wide range of critical topics, including anatomy and physiology, cardiology, medications, and advanced medical procedures.

In total, these new paramedics completed over 1,380 hours of education, including 700 hours of didactic and lab training and 700 hours of clinical and field internships. Now, as Nationally Registered EMT-Paramedics, they are ready to serve the community on Carmel Fire Department ambulances and firetrucks.

Carmel Fire Department is committed to community safety through a dedicated team of firefighters and emergency responders, delivering top-notch service and care.
