Thousands run in Carmel Marathon

The 12th Annual Carmel Marathon took place Saturday, with runners racing all around the city, starting and finishing at the Palladium.
According to race officials, it’s the 34th largest race in the U.S.
Nearly 4,000 peopled signed up for the 5K, 10K, full and half marathons.
Todd Oliver, the race director, said people from 43 different states are participating.
Steve Froeschle won the men’s marathon. Froeschle, 27, finished the 26.2-mile race in 2 hours, 20 minutes and 48.91 seconds, nearly seven seconds ahead of second place.
Peighton Meske of won the women’s marathon, in a time of 2:39.48.72.
In the other races, Raymond Magut won the men’s half-marathon, completing the 13.1-mile course in 1:04:22.74, while Mary Munanu was first in the women’s half-marathon, finishing in 1:12:42.20.
Jarrett Mattingly was the winner of the men’s 10K race, clocking in at 31 minutes, 20.67 seconds. Lucy Dobbs won the women’s 10K, in a time of 35:43.00.
In the 5K race, John Poray won the men’s race in 15:52.64, while Kimberly Muller won the women’s race in 19:07.80.
