April 21, 1935 – April 20, 2025
Thomas Patrick Sheehan, 89, passed away peacefully on Easter Sunday, April 20, 2025, at Community Hospital North, surrounded by family. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sondra (Soni) D. Sheehan in December 2023, with whom he shared 39 wonderful years of marriage.
Born on Easter Sunday, April 21,1935, he was the son of June E. De Wane and Patrick H. Sheehan. He led a life marked by entrepreneurial spirit, service to others, professional excellence, and a deep devotion to his family and community.
Tom served in the U.S. Army until he was discharged in 1956 as a Platoon Sargent. Following his discharge, he saw a want ad that stated, “Are you being overlooked for employment due to lack of experience?” Answering that ad was the beginning of his career as a salesman. In the early years of his career, Tom sold cookware and pictures on street corners throughout Indianapolis. Universal Distributors Inc., was founded in 1967 as an encyclopedia sales and early learning materials company. In 1990, he launched Carmel Financial Corporation, Inc., (CFC) a sales and distribution company. He later founded Tomorrow’s Memories, a photography company, and Alarm Communication and Technologies, an alarm and security company. For years, through the generous participation of the employees, CFC was the largest contributor to the Good Samaritan annual food drive. His career reflected his remarkable vision, determination, and leadership.
Deeply committed to community service, Tom was passionate about philanthropy. Together with his wife Soni, they established The Thomas P. and Sondra D. Sheehan Charitable Foundation, a foundation focused on improving the lives of children facing debilitating medical challenges. They also established the Timothy J. Sheehan Memorial Fund, gifting to a multitude of local and national organizations including Wounded Warrior Project, Sloan & Kettering Cancer Center, Our Lady of Grace Catholic School, the Boys & Girls Club of Noblesville, the Children’s Organ Transplant Association, and The Milk Bank. He also served on various community boards, including Riverview Health Foundation, the Boys & Girls Club, and St. Vincent DePaul in Noblesville. Tom was recently honored by the Boys & Girls Clubs Indiana Area Council and inducted into their Hall of Fame to honor his unwavering dedication of time, energy, and resources. Tom also volunteered alongside his family for the Muscular Dystrophy Telethon for several years, where they organized and manned phone banks in Noblesville. In 2025, Tom was awarded the prestigious Sagamore of the Wabash award from Gov. Eric J. Holcomb. This award reflects Tom’s lifelong commitment to serving Hamilton County and transforming lives through his generosity, leadership, and philanthropy.
As a faithful member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Tom, along with his wife Soni, embraced a life of faith and generosity. He cherished time spent with family and holidays at his home in Noblesville. Tom also enjoyed traveling with his bride, reading, solving puzzles, playing golf, and going to movies. Tom was forever curious, always interested in learning something new and loved engaging others in conversation.
Tom is survived by his children, Gary P. (Sheila) Sheehan, Tracey L. Sheehan (Pam Olerich), Eric M. Sheehan, Kenton L. Luedeke and Todd W. (Cathy) Luedeke; his grandchildren, Michelle (Brad) Angeny, Jefa Sheehan, Madison Luedeke, Scott Luedeke, and Dylan (Hillary) Chambers; and his great-grandchildren, Astrid Slaven, Paris Sulzer, Brently Chambers, and Abigail Chambers, Liam Sheehan, and Jaylee Sheehan.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Sondra D. Sheehan, sons, Timothy J. and Kevin W. Sheehan, and twin sisters, June Sabina Finnegan and Joan Marie Gottschalk.
