University improved to 2-0 on Tuesday, using a huge third quarter to beat Park Tudor 61-44 at the “U” Center.
After a slow first half that saw the Trailblazers trail the Panthers 16-15 at halftime, University came out on a 16-4 run to open up a 31-20 lead midway through the third quarter. Park Tudor cut the lead back down to 42-35 after three, but the ‘Blazers started the fourth on a 17-4 run to take their largest lead, 59-39.
Lindsey Syrek had a huge game with 26 points. She had 10 in the first half, 16 in the second, and did the majority of her second-half scoring in the third, where she carried the team offensively. Natalie Nickless caught fire from deep in the second half, scoring 12 of her 15 after the break. Brooke Andrus had seven of her nine in the second half, too.
University will travel to Clinton Central on Friday for a 7:30 p.m. game.
