On Tuesday, Noble Crossing Elementary third graders hosted Noblesville mayoral candidates Mike Corbett, Chris Jensen and Julia Church Kozicki, quizzing them on topics students researched as part of their government study unit.

The candidates fielded 90 minutes of questions on a variety of subjects including their views regarding Noblesville’s history, parks, animal habitats, public safety, environmental initiatives and how they plan to listen to the opinion of kids and work to spread community kindness. The panel discussion allowed the third graders to drive their own learning and created an engaging, real-world application for their classroom study.

Students will analyze their findings from the panel, conduct further research and study before taking their own mock vote for mayor on Election Day. Many students took care to dress up for the special occasion and as the session ended asked candidates for their autographs.
