The Reporter caught up with Syd Loomis, or as we call him in the pages of The Reporter, “The Banker of Oz,” at his retirement party on Sunday, Sept. 15 at Osprey Pointe Pavilion, 19777 Morse Park Lane, Noblesville. Loomis will put in his last day at The Farmers Bank on Friday, so you have a very limited amount of time to stop by his office and see the Oz connection.
Jason Spartz told The Reporter he will miss having Syd in the bank because he has been very helpful with his family’s finances over the decades.
Moments after suggesting that Loomis should perhaps have planned to leave his retirement event in a hot air balloon like the Wizard of Oz himself near the end of that classic movie, Loomis pointed out the ironic appearance of a hot air balloon floating over Morse Reservoir in the background.
Because The Reporter did not stay until the final moments of his party, we can neither confirm nor deny rumors that said balloon may have landed outside the pavilion to take Loomis over the rainbow.
Wherever you land, we wish you well, Syd. Here’s hoping it will be on a stage in Hamilton County!

Very nice Stu !! Thank you so much!!
