The Excel Center, Goodwill’s tuition-free high school for adults, will honor its winter graduating class at 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 20, at Ivy Tech Community College – Hamilton County Auditorium, 300 N. 17th St., Noblesville.
Designed to empower individuals to overcome adversity and reach their potential, The Excel Center provides a unique opportunity for adult learners, like Gracie Board, to earn an Indiana Core 40 high school diploma.
“I left high school early due to the mental health struggles I was experiencing,” Board said. “It was difficult watching my friends go off to college as I fell further behind.”
Amidst the challenges that many residents face in Hamilton County, The Excel Center offers individualized support and a path to success.
“The staff at The Excel Center have been very understanding, providing one-on-one support and a safe space when I’m feeling overwhelmed,” Board said. “My experience was amazing.”
The Excel Center in Noblesville has celebrated more than 500 graduates who have joined the workforce or are continuing their education at local universities.
“Many of the adults we serve have struggled previously to receive the individualized support they needed in school,” said Betsy K. Delgado, senior vice president and chief mission and education officer at Goodwill of Central & Southern Indiana. “From teachers and life coaches to college and career readiness specialists, The Excel Center has dedicated staff for students who may need a little extra support on their educational journey.”
With 18 campuses across central and southern Indiana, The Excel Center has graduated more than 8,500 adults.
