The Cat Theatre announces upcoming performances, classes & summer programming

Laughter, creativity, and a touch of spooky fun are taking center stage this summer at The Cat. From a crowd-favorite musical to youth summer camps and comedy, the lineup offers local entertainment and creative opportunities for audiences and aspiring performers of all ages.

“We’re looking forward to welcoming audiences and artists to The Cat for a season filled with performances, creativity and connection,” said Audrey Larkin, Managing Director of Education and Programming for The Cat. “As a home for community arts, we’re proud to provide an affordable and welcoming space where people can learn, perform and be entertained.”

This year marks the ninth year of The Cat opening its doors to the community. From youth theatre productions to camps and classes, this season’s programming continues The Cat’s mission of making the performing arts accessible and affordable for the next generation of artists.

The Addams Family: School Edition (May 29-31)

The Cat’s Drama Department presents the spooky and hilarious musical comedy following Wednesday Addams as she navigates love, family and growing up, Addams-style. Dave Dugan Comedy Weekend (June 5-6)

Nationally touring comedian Dave Dugan brings his high-energy standup and quick wit to The Cat for “Dave Dugan’s June is Busting Out With Laughs,” a special two-night comedy weekend. Purchase tickets to the Dave Dugan Comedy Weekend here.

Summer Camps for Young Performers

The Cat’s Drama Department will offer two one-week summer camps for ages 10 and older:

• Beginning Shakespeare (June 22-26, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.): An age-appropriate introduction to classical performance and Shakespearean text.
• Devised Theater (July 2-10, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.): A collaborative workshop where students create an original performance from the ground up.

“Our summer camps offer an immersive opportunity for young performers to step into the spotlight and build confidence in a supportive environment,” Larkin said. “We invite students of all skill levels to sign up and let their curiosity and creativity take center stage this summer.”

Adult Acting Classes

Adults looking to explore the stage can join The Cat’s Acting 101 classes, held Thursday evenings from June 4 to July 23 this summer. This welcoming course focuses on foundational acting skills, making it ideal for beginners or anyone looking to reconnect with their creative side.
