Fishers scored a singles sweep on Wednesday, and that was enough to give the Tigers the Mudsock trophy.
Eighth-ranked Fishers beat No. 20 Hamilton Southeastern 3-2 in the annual Mudsock dual meet, which took place at the Tigers’ courts. Fishers got all three of its wins from singles, with No. 1 Reese Knoderer, No. 2 Owen McEldowney and No. 3 Nate Simpkins all winning in straight sets.
The Royals won both doubles matches in three sets. Daniel Verde and Andrew Spirrison won the No. 1 doubles match, while Jackson Bill and Logan Hubbard were victorious at No. 2 doubles.
Southeastern won the junior varsity meet 13-7.
Westfield netted a big dual meet win on Wednesday, as the No. 16 Shamrocks defeated No. 5 Brebeuf Jesuit 4-1.
No. 2 singles Quentin Markle got Westfield’s first victory of the day, 6-3, 7-5. Harrison Sindelar then took the No. 3 singles match 7-6, 6-4. The No. 1 doubles team of Nicholas Mabe and Brett Barnes came from behind to clinch the match, winning 4-6, 6-4, 6-4.
Connor Housefield and Christian Emigh took the No. 2 doubles match 7-6, 2-6, 6-2. No. 1 singles Connor Maris lost a close battle with one of the state’s best players, 6-7, 7-5, 6-4. Westfield’s junior varsity got its first win of the year, 8-5.
The Shamrocks are now 4-0 for the season and play No. 21 Brownsburg today.
