Tennis: Huskies split early week dual meets

The Hamilton Heights boys tennis team split a pair of dual meets early this week.
On Monday, the Huskies beat Tipton 3-2, earning a newly-formed traveling trophy between the two teams. Heights won both doubles matches, with No. 1 Josh Russell and Aiden Ray getting a 6-1, 6-1 victory and No. 2 Jake Martin and Erik Malott winning 6-1, 6-2. No. 2 singles Ben Wolfgang won 6-4, 6-4.
On Tuesday, the Huskies lost to Lapel 3-2. Heights again got victories from both doubles teams. No. 1 Russell and Ray won a tight match 1-6, 6-2, 7-6 (4) and Martin and Colin Weber took the No. 2 match 7-6 (3), 6-1.
The Huskies play Western today.

Westfield improved to 11-1 for the season with a 4-1 victory over Lapel on Monday.
The Shamrocks got wins from No. 2 singles Brett Barnes, No. 3 singles Christian Emigh, No. 1 doubles Nicholas Mabe and Quentin Markle and No. 2 doubles Danny Hildebrand and Connor Housefield.
Westfield plays at Kokomo today in its last regular-season match of the year.

Noblesville edged Guerin Catholic 3-2 in a Tuesday dual meet.
The Golden Eagles got wins from Cole Metzger at No. 1 singles and John Tiplick at No. 3 singles. Noblesville winners were not available.
