Synergize, the Carmel-based professional group putting “Relationships Over Everything,” took over 3Up this past Tuesday night for its monthly 4:30 Meetup. Members and guests gathered to support Providence Cristo Rey High School, Synergize’s nonprofit beneficiary for the month of July.

Providence Cristo Rey High School (PCRHS) opened in Indianapolis in 2007. The school offers a “transformational educational experience to students with economic need,” including intense coursework, a multicultural environment, and a mandatory corporate work-study program.

Ultimately, the school’s mission is to create “faith-filled, socially responsible women and men who will take the lead in creating a more just society and a more hopeful future for themselves and others.”

“When I went in and spoke to these kids, they blew me away,” said Jason Ulm, board member at PCRHS and one of the speakers at the 4:30 Meetup. “They were well-spoken, and every single one of them talked about how much they loved school and what they were learning.”

Other speakers at the event included Fred Yeakey, Vice President of PCRHS; Tyler Mayer, President and CEO of PCRHS; and former PCRHS student Jimmie Darbonne III, who is now studying Sports Marketing and Administration at Indiana University Bloomington. Darbonne told the crowd his Providence Cristo Rey story, giving credit to the powerful impact the school, and his mother, had upon his future success.

Synergize holds a 4:30 Meetup every month. Each meetup focuses on a specific nonprofit organization with a local impact. The event is a chance for Synergize, and any other attendees, to give back to the impact and connect with its leaders to help in the future. This month, the group donated over $2,200. They’d especially like to thank Randie Dial of CLA, this meetup’s Impact Sponsor. CLA will also sponsor August’s 4:30 Meetup.

Synergize will benefit Dying Defiantly, a nonprofit run by one of its members, in August. Marshall Morris, Legacy Member, founded Dying Defiantly after his own terminal diagnosis. The organization helps those with terminal diagnoses and their families find community and continue to live with joy despite their disease.
