January 24, 1941 – September 13, 2025
Sue Roberts, 84, Sheridan, entered into eternal rest, surrounded by the love of her family, on Saturday morning, September 13, 2025, at IU Health University Hospital in Indianapolis. Born January 24, 1941, in Champaign, Ill., she was the daughter of the late Carl Perry and Wilma Lodema (Land) Jackson.
She was a graduate of South Broward High School in Hollywood, Fla., and was a member of The Bible Church in Sheridan.
Sue worked for many years as a professional cake decorator for numerous businesses, including the Carmel Dairy Queen and multiple Marsh locations.
She was the proud mother of five wonderful children, and her love grew even stronger as she embraced her role as grandmother, and later great-grandmother. She was not only their guiding light, but also their source of comfort, joy and encouragement. No matter what was going on in her life, her family took top priority. Her favorite activities revolved around family gatherings. Holiday parties and family reunions were among her favorite family adventures. Camping at Old Mill Run in Thorntown was an annual family event that Sue looked forward to every season since 1985.
Sue was an incredibly wise and loving woman. She spent her life caring for others, pouring her heart into her family and ensuring no one ever felt alone or unsupported. She taught lessons not only with words, but with her daily actions of kindness, patience, and quiet strength. Her love was generous, her faith unwavering, and her wisdom endless. Health problems never gave her cause to complain. Instead, she focused on the needs of those around her.
When she had some time to herself, Sue loved getting lost in the pages of a good book, and she was equally content watching her favorite shows on the TV. Crime shows were a favorite genre, but everyone in the family knew NOT to call the house when her game shows were on. She also loved to crochet, making blankets for all the kids and grandkids, as well as more potholders that she knew what to do with (they were her favorite). Sue was also a talented piano player. She came by it honestly, having been taught by her mother, who had master’s degrees in music and education.
Sue’s legacy is one of deep love, compassion, and devotion. While she will be missed dearly on this earth, we rejoice in knowing she is now with our Lord and Savior. Her spirit will live on in the countless lives she touched.
Sue is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Raymond Roberts. She and Raymond were married on June 14, 1958. Also surviving are three sons, Randy W. Roberts (Jane) of Mooresville, Raymond Scott Roberts (Heather) of Sheridan, and Brian Keith Roberts (Jenny) of Sheridan; two daughters, Sandra K. Roberts of Sheridan, and Janet Sue Roberts of Thorntown; 10 grandchildren, Christopher Phillips, Rafael Esmundo (Kelsie), Rachel Thomas (Brandon), Michael “Alex” Noonan (Sarah), Emily Hale (Bryce), Jacob Roberts, Megan Conn, Drew Roberts, Evan Roberts, and Levi Crouch; and 12 great-grandchildren, Braxton Thomas, Cooper Hale, Dawson Hale, Finn Phillips, Hadley Phillips, Tripp Phillips, Marley Phillips, Luke Roberts, Marcus Roberts, Julius Roberts, Phoebe Esmundo, and Phoenix Esmundo.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl Perry and Wilma Lodema (Land) Jackson; and her grandson, Steven Ray Roberts.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, September 20, 2025, at Kercheval Funeral Home, 306 E. 10th St., Sheridan, with visitation from 11 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will follow at Crown View Cemetery in Sheridan. Pastor Kade Wilson will be officiating.
