Nonprofit arts and cultural activities in Carmel generated $42.7 million in economic activity last year, according to the latest Arts & Economic Prosperity study conducted by Americans for the Arts.
The total includes $17 million in spending by arts and culture organizations and $25.7 million in event-related spending by their audiences. Nearly 49 percent of the people attending local arts and cultural events in 2022 came from outside Hamilton County, according to the study, for which the Center for the Performing Arts and its Resident Companies assisted in gathering data. All that activity supported the equivalent of 981 jobs and generated $10 million in local, state, and federal government revenue.
Notably, more than 77 percent of the responding attendees agreed with this statement: “I would feel a great sense of loss if this activity or venue were no longer available.”
