Steve Dillinger, current Hamilton County Commissioner, announces his candidacy for re-election as Commissioner. With a proven track record of dedicated service to the community, he is committed to continuing his work in shaping Hamilton County’s future.

His dedication to the betterment of the county is exemplified by his many accolades:

  • “2019 Outstanding Commissioner of the Year” by the Association of Indiana Commissioners
  • “Distinguished Public Service Career of Hamilton County” by Congresswoman Susan Brooks, appearing in the Congressional Record on Jan. 17, 2020
  • An honorary Associate of Science degree in College and Community Service by Ivy Tech Community College in the Spring of 2023

Recently, the Hamilton County Commissioners team received the Indiana County Commissioners Award for Outstanding Team Effort for their water availability study. In addition, they were honored with the Outstanding Leadership and Impact Award from the Good Samaritan Network of Hamilton County, highlighting their significant contributions to the community. Along with his fellow commissioners, their leadership has earned six statewide awards, reflecting their remarkable achievements in serving the community.

Under Dillinger’s leadership, Hamilton County has experienced remarkable growth, with a 400 percent increase in population during his time in office. His proactive approach to planning and development has enabled the county to “stay ahead of the curve,” ensuring that the needs of the growing population are met.

Key accomplishments during his tenure include:

  • Attracting Ivy Tech to Noblesville
  • State Road 37 improvements
  • Construction of the Lowes Way ramp connection
  • County-wide zoning, increasing County Parks by more than 1,000 acres, and turning 146th and 236th streets into major thoroughfares
  • Development of a new government and judicial center
  • Establishment of a public safety campus

Dillinger’s commitment to infrastructure improvement has resulted in a network of safe and efficient roads, bridges, and streets, fostering direct and effective interconnectivity for residents. His focus on accommodating growth and population through proactive planning has been instrumental in Hamilton County’s success.

In addition to his public service, Dillinger has been an active member of the community, serving on various boards and with many organizations. Some of these include the No. 1-rated Indianapolis Airport Authority Board for 22 years – of which he is currently serving as Vice President – and the county’s solid waste, drainage, and finance boards. Previously, he served on the Old National Bank Advisory Board of Directors and M & I Bank’s Advisory Board of Directors.

As the longest-serving Commissioner in Indiana, Dillinger has laid the foundation for the thriving, No. 1 community that Hamilton County is today. His commitment to the well-being of residents, alongside his extensive leadership experience, makes him a strong candidate to continue serving the county effectively.

Professionally, Dillinger owned and operated S. C. Dillinger & Associates Insurance Agency, providing insurance and financial expertise across the state for over three decades. He is a member of the Green Valley Church of Christ and the local Chambers of Commerce, and he has coached the Noblesville Grinders’ elementary football travel team for 25 years. He was elected as an inaugural inductee into the Elementary Football Hall of Fame in 2010. He resides in Noblesville with his wife and cherishes spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
