Step inside the Sheriff’s Office

Your chance to experience law enforcement up close

Submitted by Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office

Ever wondered what it’s really like to be behind the badge? The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office is now accepting applications for the Fall Citizen’s Academy … and there’s still time to grab your spot.

Beginning Thursday, Sept. 4, this 12-week journey (11 weeks of immersive training plus a graduation celebration) will meet Thursday evenings from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. and give you exclusive, hands-on access to the inner workings of HCSO.

This isn’t your average classroom. You’ll:

  • Step onto the campus and see the high-level instruction deputies receive.
  • Get behind the wheel of a patrol vehicle and navigate a precision driving course.
  • Visit the range to learn about deputies’ firearms and less lethal platforms.
  • Meet the K-9 partners and learn how they track, detect, and protect.
  • Learn about drone operations, the different situations they are deployed, and see a demonstration.
  • Gain insight into the law, specialized equipment, and much more.

Whether you’re a lifelong Hamilton County resident curious about how your Sheriff’s Office operates or someone considering a future in public safety, the Citizen’s Academy offers an eye-opening, unforgettable experience.
