The Hamilton Southeastern girls basketball team clinched a share of the Hoosier Crossroads Conference championship Friday by winning at Zionsville 69-56.
The Royals outscored the Eagles in each of the four quarters, leading 18-14 after the first period and 30-22 at halftime. A 22-point fourth quarter sealed the win for Southeastern, which finished conference play with a 6-1 record. The Royals are 19-2 overall.
Riley Makalusky scored 23 points, followed by Maya Makalusky with 16 and Lauren Stewart with 11. All three players made three 3-pointers. Teegan Acres had a monster game on the boards with 14 rebounds and also blocked two shots. Olivia Brown dished out nine assists to go with seven rebounds.
In the boys game, Southeastern fell to Zionsville 52-38. The Royals led 12-7 after one quarter, but the Eagles dominated the second quarter, outscoring HSE 18-5 for a 25-19 lead. Zionsville led by 41-22 in the third quarter before Southeastern trimmed the lead to 41-28 by the end of the period.
Reph Stevenson reached double-double status with 20 points and 15 rebounds, also blocking two shots. Deion Miles handed out five assists.
The Royals boys are 1-3 in conference play and 4-11 overall, and host Mount Vernon tonight.
