Softball roundup: Royals roll past Richmond, Noblesville blasts Roncalli

The Hamilton Southeastern softball team sailed past Richmond 15-2 in a five-inning home game Wednesday.

The Royals were in control early, scoring 11 runs in the first inning. Addy Justice, Reese Garland and Charlee Lewkowicz all had three hits and scored two runs, with Justice batting in three runs. Garland and Lewkowicz both drove in two runs. Lani Wyrick had two hits and two runs, with Sayla Stock scoring two runs.

Garland, Alex Kiemeyer and Makenna Selm all hit one double. Jenna Chase pitched two innings for the win, striking out six. Ashley Ransom threw three innings, striking out four.

Southeastern is 16-4 and plays a Hoosier Crossroads Conference game at 6 p.m. this evening at Westfield.

Noblesville took care of Roncalli 10-2 in a Wednesday home game.

The Millers scored their first run in the third inning; Addi Emmerson got home on Chloe Vetter’s RBI sacrifice bunt. The Royals hit a two-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to take the lead, but Noblesville answered that with seven runs in the bottom of the fifth.

Bella Hughes batted in Emmerson to tie the game with a center field single. The Millers loaded the bases, then Reese Newsom stepped up and hit a grand slam to left field. Delaney Rundle, Hughes and Gabby Fowler also scored, and Noblesville led 6-2. Later, Mack Harvey blasted a two-run homer, also scoring Macie Duvall.

Noblesville added two runs in the sixth inning. Hughes singled in Nevaeh Nash, then Fowler doubled Rundle home. Rundle and Emmerson both finished the game with three hits. Claire Cullen pitched five innings for the win, striking out six.

The Millers are 12-9 and host Carmel at 5:30 p.m. today.

Fishers dropped a 7-0 away game at New Palestine Wednesday.

The Tigers were held to three hits. Kendall Jordan and Liv McNall both hit a double and Hailey Trueblood hit a single.

Fishers is 11-9 and plays an HCC game at 6 p.m. tonight at Franklin Central.
