Softball roundup: Tigers get rebound victory

Fishers rebounded from its Tuesday loss to Westfield with an 11-1, five-inning victory over Lawrence North Wednesday at the Tigers’ field.

Fishers scored in each inning. Joni Oliver hit a home run, while Cate Summerfield smacked two triples. Frankie Jackson, Anna McGrath and Abigail Shannon all hit one double.

Oliver pitched four innings for the win.

The Tigers are 11-3 and host Yorktown this afternoon.

Guerin Catholic dropped a 12-4 Circle City Conference game at Bishop Chatard on Wednesday.

Both teams got on the board with two runs in the second inning. Gia Crishon led off the top of the inning with a home run for the Golden Eagles, then Halle Hunter scored on Aggie Waymouth’s RBI groundout.

Guerin Catholic scored two more runs in the third inning. Crishon singled in Ava Augustinovicz, then was brought home by a Waymouth single. But the Trojans tied the game in the fourth inning, then scored three runs in the fifth to take control.

Augustinovicz pitched 4.2 innings, striking out seven.

The Golden Eagles are 3-4 and host Decatur Central on Friday.
