The Noblesville softball team started the week with a 7-5 win over McCutcheon Monday.
Both teams scored a run in the first inning; the Millers’ Brookelyn Grayson smacked a solo home run into center field. Noblesville put up two runs in the second inning: Delaney Rundle singled in Izzy Zapp, then Reese Newsom got home on a passed ball.
The Mavericks tied the game with two runs in the top of the third inning. The Millers went up 5-3 in the bottom of the fifth. Grayson scored on Maggie Kern’s sacrifice fly, then Addi Emmerson singled in Haley Schatko.
McCutcheon again tied the game in the top of the sixth by scoring two runs. Noblesville took the lead for good in the bottom of the sixth. Grayson singled in Nevaeh Nash for the go-ahead run, then Schatko doubled in Grayson, who finished the game 3-for-4 at the plate.
Schatko had two hits. Emme Yee went six innings for the win, throwing five strikeouts.
The Millers are 15-7 and finish their regular and Hoosier Crossroads Conference seasons this afternoon at Zionsville.

Carmel beat Harrison 3-0 on Monday.
The Greyhounds began with two runs in the first inning. Winni Owens led off with a triple, then scored on Jayden Kleiner’s double. Kleiner scored when Megan Pike drew a bases-loaded walk. Kleiner hit lead-off home run in the third inning, giving her two hits.
Emily Smith pitched a complete game for the win, striking out two against five hits and no walks.
Carmel is 6-16 and plays at Greenfield-Central this evening to finish the regular season.

Westfield dropped a pair of games to begin the week.
On Monday, the Shamrocks lost at Western 2-0. Sofia Easterhaus had two hits and Makayla Watson had one hit.
Westfield dropped a 7-3 HCC game Tuesday to Avon. Cam Pulice singled in Watson for a first-inning run, but a two-run home run put the Orioles ahead in the top of the second inning and Avon stayed in front from there. Ava Kainrath hit a solo homer in the third inning, then Easterhaus singled in Avery Banas in the fourth inning.
Pulice had two hits. Chloe Tanner pitched three innings, striking out four.
The ‘Rocks finished conference play 3-4 and are 11-12 overall. Westfield finishes its regular season Thursday by hosting McCutcheon.
