Softball roundup: Fishers shuts out Warren Central, Sheridan & Guerin Catholic fall

The Fishers softball team sailed past Warren Central 11-0 in a five-inning home game on Thursday.

The Tigers scored four runs in the first inning. Hailey Trueblood got the first run, then Hannah Kinder cracked a two-RBI double to bring in Kendall Jordan and Kate Murray. Brooke Johnson later scored on a wild pitch.

Fishers then put up seven runs in the third inning. Taylor Duplessis doubled in Johnson; she and Victoria Abel later scored after Frankie Jackson reached on error. Brooke Clayton came in to run for Jackson and scored after Jenna Grubb reached on error. Jordan got the Tigers into double digits with a two-run triple that sent Grubb and Trueblood home, then scored during the next at-bat on a wild pitch.

Grubb and Trueblood both had a double and a single for the Tigers. Jackson pitched three innings for the win, striking out five, with Liv McNall striking out four in relief. Both only allowed two hits during their pitching appearances.

Fishers is 2-0 and plays Monday at Center Grove.

Sheridan dropped a 17-2 game to Western Boone in five innings Thursday at Biddle Park.

The Stars scored nine runs in the first inning and added another six in the second inning. The Blackhawks scored both of their runs in the fourth inning; Maelei Casler had a base hit, then Abbi Merritt hit a home run into center field.

Sheridan is 0-2 and plays Monday at Indiana School for the Deaf.

Guerin Catholic fell to Lapel 26-2 in a five-inning Thursday home game.

The Bulldogs scored 13 runs in the first inning and finished with five runs in the fourth and fifth innings. The Golden Eagles scored one run in the bottom of the first: Madi Cain sent a double into center field, then scored when Anna Mauch hit a left field double. Guerin Catholic’s second run came in the third inning when Lucy Kemp batted in Cain.

Natalie Eiler had two hits, including a double.

The Golden Eagles are 0-2 and play Tuesday at Beech Grove.
