The Noblesville softball team won both of its games at the Millers’ Invitational last Saturday.
First, Noblesville beat Decatur Central 11-1 in six innings. Gabby Fowler smacked a two-run home run in the sixth inning, one of three hits.
Mack Harvey, Macie Duvall, Nevaeh Nash, Bella Hughes and Izzy Zapp all hit one double, part of a two-hit night for Zapp, Harvey and Duvall. Delaney Rundle hit two singles. Lulu Van Beek got the pitching win.
The Millers got a walk off win in their second game, beating Plainfield 8-7. Haley Schatko batted in the winning run, a two-RBI single to center field that scored Zapp and Hughes.
The Quakers scored a run in the third inning, but Noblesville came back with six runs in the fifth inning. Reese Newsome got the Millers on the board with a two-run homer, also scoring Makayla Jacquay. Nash got home when Zapp reached on error, Fowler batted in Rundle with a right field hit, then Harvey cracked a two-run double to score Zapp and Fowler.
Plainfield scored two runs in the sixth and seventh inning to take a 7-6 lead before Noblesville came back to win. Rundle finished with two hits. Claire Cullen pitched a complete game, striking out nine.
The Millers are 10-7 and host Mount Vernon Monday. Noblesville travels to Hamilton Southeastern Tuesday for a Hoosier Crossroads Conference game, then hosts Kokomo on Thursday.
