Softball: Millers move quickly to beat Lawrence North

The REPORTER

The Noblesville softball team started fast, and that led the Millers to a 12-9 victory over Lawrence North on Friday.

Gabby Fowler got Noblesville on the board in the first inning with a two-run home run that also scored Nevaeh Nash. Mack Harvey later got home when Haley Schatko hit a sacrifice fly.

The Wildcats scored two runs in the top of the second inning, but the Millers put up six runs in the bottom of the second for a 9-2 lead. Reese Newsom and Delaney Rundle hit singles, then both scored when Nash reached on error. Harvey’s left field hit brought in Nash. Schatko later singled in Chloe Vetter and Harvey, then Addi Emmerson cracked a center field double to score Bella Hughes, who was running for Schatko.

Lawrence North scored four runs in the top of the third to cut Noblesville’s lead to 9-6. Harvey helped out with a right field hit, which brought Nash home for her third run of the game.

Emmerson smacked a solo home run in the fourth inning to give the Millers an 11-6 lead. The Wildcats scored in the top of the fifth, and Vetter responded with a right field double to bring Fowler home. Noblesville then held off LN in the last two innings.

Harvey and Emmerson both went 3-for-4 at the plate, with Vetter hitting two doubles. Lulu Van Beek went two innings for the pitching win; Claire Cullen relieved her and threw eight strikeouts over five innings.

The Millers are 5-1 and host Bloomington North today for a doubleheader.
