Softball: Huskies get two massive wins, easily handle Frankton, then blast through Greenfield-Central

The Hamilton Heights softball team easily won both of its games last Saturday at the Greenfield-Central Cougar Classic.

The Huskies beat Frankton 8-1 in their first game. Lily Roush smacked a three-run home run in the first inning, also scoring Addie Doak and Hannah Dent. Heights put up four runs in the sixth inning: Doak singled in Taya Trosper, Alexia Nickerson got home on a passed ball, Doak scored on a wild pitch, then a Dent singled brought in Lily Cash. Kassidy Schakel scored on a passed ball in the seventh inning.

Doak and Dent both had two hits, including a triple for Dent. Cash also hit a triple while Kamryn Rhoton hit a double. Roush pitched a complete game, striking out nine.

The Huskies beat Greenfield-Central 17-3 in five innings to win their second game. Cash blasted a three-run home run in the first inning, while Schakel hit a two-run homer in the second. Cash also hit a double and totaled five RBIs for the game with three runs scored.

Doak was 4-for-4 at the plate and scored three runs. Heather Crays hit a double. Dent, Roush, Rhoton and Melanee Forrester all had two hits. Crays drove in two runs and got the pitching win.

Heights is now 18-7 for the season. The Huskies host Alexandria-Monroe Tuesday and Frankfort on Wednesday.
