Westfield’s bats got hot during the Shamrocks’ all-county softball game with Fishers on Tuesday, and that led Westfield to an 8-1 home field victory.
The Shamrocks scored three runs in the first inning and held the lead from there. Avery Banas, Avery Parker, Samantha Breaux and Ava Kainrath all hit home runs for Westfield, with Parker driving in three runs. Cara Snedeker went 3-for-4 at the plate, scoring two runs. Chloe Tanner pitched a complete game, striking out six.
Nyah Duplessis scored the Tigers’ lone run, with Kate Murray batting her in. Murray also threw five strikeouts.
Westfield is 6-4 and hosts Guerin Catholic on Friday. Fishers is 3-4 and hosts Yorktown on Thursday.

Hamilton Heights used a big second inning to take control of its Hoosier Conference game against Tipton Tuesday, winning 11-5.
The Huskies scored five runs in that second inning. Faith Hittle had a solid day at the plate, hitting 3-for-4. Isabella Neiling and Alayna Baber both hit a double, with Neiling stealing three bases. Lily Roush pitched 12 strikeouts in six innings for the win.
Heights is 3-4 and plays at Tipton today to complete the conference series.

Carmel powered its way to an 11-8 win at North Central on Tuesday.
The Greyhounds held the lead throughout, going up 11-3 by the middle of the sixth inning, and that helped Carmel hold off the Panthers when they scored five runs in the bottom of the sixth.
Sophie Esposito had an outstanding night, batting 5-for-5 with a triple, two doubles, four runs scored and four stolen bases. Elsa Morrison and Kylie Cunningham each hit home runs; Morrison was 3-for-3 with four RBIs. Lucy Broughton pitched four innings for the win.
The Greyhounds are 4-3 and host Pendleton Heights tonight.
