Carmel/Fishers
The Carmel girls soccer team hosted its own Invitational on Saturday.
In morning games, the Class 3A No. 4 Greyhounds beat Avon 2-0, while 3A No. 14 Fishers fell to Cathedral 1-0. Carmel scored one goal in each half: Annika Nelson put in the first goal in the 24th minute, with Ashton Roherbacher making the assist. Megan Hamm scored the second goal with 1.2 seconds left in the game.
The Greyhounds and the Tigers played each other in a night game, with Carmel winning 2-1. The ‘Hounds scored first, with Hamm hitting a volley off a Sophie Shepherd cross. Fishers answered when Anna Pettit put in a header off an assist by Sienna Mullen with 6:29 left in the first half. Carmel got the game-winner late in the second half; Camryn Love headed in a serve from Clare Simmonds.
The Greyhounds are 5-1 and will play next weekend in the Zionsville Lady Eagles Invitational, taking on Sacred Heart (Ky.) and Rocky River (Ohio). The Tigers are 4-2-1 and host Noblesville Wednesday.
Fishers
Fishers’ boys team, ranked No. 1 in the 3A, cruised past McCutcheon 8-1 on Saturday.
The Tigers are 4-1-1 and play Tuesday at Noblesville.
HSE
Hamilton Southeastern’s boys also got an easy win, sailing past Franklin Central 7-0 in a Saturday Hoosier Crossroads Conference game.
Oscar Tittle scored two goals, followed by one each from Noah Link, Grady Garrard, Evan Shideler, Drew MacDonald and James Wells. Link had two assists and Garrard dished out one.
The Royals are 1-0-1 in conference play and 4-0-2 overall, and will host Avon in a Tuesday HCC game.
University
University’s boys beat Muncie Burris 1-0 in a Saturday Pioneer Academic Athletic Conference game.
After a scoreless first half, Remy Lance provided the game-winning goal for the Trailblazers, who kept themselves undefeated in conference play with the win.
University is 4-1 overall and hosts Greenwood Christian on Monday.
