Dear Editor:

In a time where people feel like they have to be loud to be heard, TJ Houghtalen is the opposite. He listens first, takes in what you’re saying, and then responds. That quality alone would make him a good neighbor. It also makes him an excellent candidate for the Noblesville Township Trustee Board.

TJ understands Noblesville from every angle, and frankly doesn’t need a seat as an elected official to make a difference, which makes him all the more qualified in my book. As co-owner of Green Vista Landscaping, a company rooted in this community since 1981, he has spent more than 30 years building a business, employing local workers, and investing in the place he calls home. When the Noblesville Chamber Foundation honored Green Vista with the 2023 Small Business Award, it confirmed what those of us who know TJ already understood – he is committed to this community and the people in it.

That commitment is exactly what the Township Trustee Board needs. The Trustee’s office is one of the most direct points of contact between local government and the people who need help most, and having the right people providing oversight matters. It requires people who listen, care about their neighbors, and take stewardship of taxpayer dollars seriously.

He wears every hat: community member, business owner, employer, taxpayer, volunteer, and he wears them well. Noblesville deserves board members who build community, support the people and organizations that make us stronger, and hold the office accountable. I’m proud to support him.
