Sheridan stayed unbeaten in the Hoosier Heartland Conference on Friday with a 56-6 victory at Taylor.
The Class 1A No. 7 Blackhawks took care of the Titans early. Eli Kolb got Sheridan on the board just 21 seconds into the game with a long touchdown run. Owen Bell kicked the extra point, his first of many Friday night.
Bell also threw for three first-quarter touchdowns. His first two went to Nolan Page, including a 90-yard throw that put the ‘Hawks up 21-0. Before that, Bell and Page connected on an 11-yard score. Bell then threw a 19-yard pass to Trent DeCraene, and that got Sheridan ahead 28-0 at the end of the quarter.
The Blackhawks went back on the ground in the second quarter. Bell punched the ball in from the one, Kolb ran in from 37 yards, and Cole Mackintosh took a 27-yard scoring run. With that, Sheridan led 49-0 at halftime.
The ‘Hawks had one more touchdown to score in the fourth quarter. Hayden Alexander took a fumble recovery seven yards into the end zone. Bell kicked the extra point, making him a perfect 8-for-8 on the night. He also threw 6-for-7 and totaled 162 yards. Kolb led the rushing with 73 yards.
Sheridan is now 4-0 in HHC play and continues to share the conference lead with Carroll. The Cougars beat Tri-Central 42-0 to maintain their unbeaten record for the season at 6-0.
The Blackhawks are 5-1 overall and travel to Delphi next Friday for another HHC game.
