In June, Sheridan Middle School FFA students competed at the Indiana State Convention. These students especially proved their exceptional knowledge and understanding in the Discovery Degree Quiz Bowl Leadership Development Event (LDE) where they earned state runner-up honors.
Each year, over 14,000 Indiana FFA members come together for three days of leadership workshops, banquets, and competitions. Specifically, the Discovery Degree Quiz Bowl is a team-based leadership development event. Teams answer agriculture questions and FFA-related questions that test their knowledge.
Sheridan Middle School’s team was represented by June Harle, Cara Watts, Callie Callahan, and Madie Roberts. In March of this year, this team captured the District Championship where they defeated 11 other teams to earn a spot at the State Convention.
Over the past many months these individuals have spent countless hours studying and working together so they could put their best foot forward at competition, which they undoubtedly did.
“This team truly earned every bit of this accomplishment,” Sheridan Middle School FFA Sponsor Brett Beckner said. “Their commitment to learning went far beyond the classroom. They gave up time after school, during summer break, and at home to prepare, and watching that hard work pay off on the state stage was incredibly rewarding.”
Last year, Sheridan Middle School FFA captured a championship in the Discovery Animal Science Demonstration. This runner-up finish proves the continued dedication and passion of Sheridan’s FFA program. The Sheridan community is proud of the way these students represented their town, their school, and the FFA program.
