Sheridan Elementary School (SES) joined schools across the state last week in celebrating Earth Day.

Sheridan students received a special visitor from Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) as a part of IDEM’s annual Earth Day presentation initiative. April Lashbrook from IDEM’s Office of Legal Counsel spent time with the kindergarten class, sharing insights about the environment and how even the kids can help protect it.

During the presentation, Lashbrook explained IDEM’s mission by helping the kindergartners understand how everyday choices can make a big difference. The students learned not only about Earth Day, but also on the importance of taking care of the environment.

SES was one of more than 280 classrooms across Indiana to take part in IDEM’s Earth Day program this year. The initiative reached over 15,000 Hoosier students.

Sheridan appreciates IDEM for allowing the kindergarten classrooms to be a part of this initiative and show that it is never too early to start making a difference.
