Dear Editor:

Carmel local government has long dominated the bizarre. It’s taken a big step into all-time-bizarre ratings this month.

The Carmel Redevelopment Commission paid $700,000 for the Christkindlmarkt huts several years ago. Why the huts were considered redevelopment isn’t the point.

The point is the commission, with the approval of its parent Carmel Redevelopment Authority, is now giving the huts to the city as a Thank You present for all the kind favors the street department has shown it.

Nowhere in all political science-land is there a case of intra-city gift-giving.

The possibilities are endless but, in every case, they almost would match the bizarre level of this latest honest government.
