As a Young Republican, I’ve experienced firsthand the impact radical ideologies can have on society. That’s why having someone like Elise Stefanik, who’s not afraid to stand up to anti-American propaganda, at the United Nations is so significant.
Representative Stefanik (N.Y.-21) rose quickly to stardom in the GOP as the youngest woman ever elected to the United States Congress in 2014. Immediately displaying political savvy, Stefanik journeyed to become the youngest woman ever to serve in top House GOP leadership.
As a member of the House Armed Services and Intelligence committees, Stefanik has had significant exposure to international affairs, national security, and intelligence matters. It is clear she is familiar with the security challenges that influence international relations. Her legislative experience and work on policy in these areas demonstrate her ability to navigate complex issues. With Stefanik’s leadership alongside President-elect Trump, the United States will once again display its strength on the world stage. This America-first leadership will ensure safety here in the Hoosier state.
Most notably for me, Stefanik is unafraid to fight for what is right. She questioned the university presidents who tolerated hate and antisemitism on their campuses and called out the abandonment of the Jewish student population. It’s refreshing to see someone in one of our nation’s top leadership positions be fearless in advocating for common sense against the clamor of outright extremism.
With her leadership at the UN, we can be sure Indiana’s Jewish community will be protected from hateful attacks.
The world faces big problems right now. We need someone like Elise Stefanik at the UN, speaking up for American values. I’m grateful to Senator Todd Young for supporting her nomination as Ambassador to the U.N. and recognizing her ability to represent us well. It is clear Young wants people representing us who have the skills and backbone to handle global challenges with American strength, and by endorsing Stefanik, his foreign policy expertise serves as a compliment to her abilities and a nod to fresh leadership.
With Elise Stefanik at the UN, we have a great opportunity to reestablish respect for our great nation on the global stage.
