Sen. Braun holds hearing on competitive employment for people with disabilities

On Thursday, U.S. Senate Special Committee on Aging Ranking Member Mike Braun (R-Ind.) and Chairman Bob Casey (D-Pa.) held a hearing, “All Means All: Empowering People with Disabilities to Thrive in Careers and the Workplace.”

During the hearing, the Senators focuses on effective strategies for hiring, retaining, and promoting entrepreneurship among people with disabilities in competitive employment. They also addressed solutions that support people with complex disabilities in the workforce.

Witnesses for the hearing included:

  • Jeffrey E. Mittman, President and CEO, Bosma Enterprises, and President, National Association for the Employment of the People Who are Blind, Indianapolis
  • Erin Willman, Founder and CEO, White Cane Coffee Company, Warren, Pa.
  • Frank Hellmer, Data Analyst and Self-Advocate, Little Rock, Ark.
  • Lauren Avellone, Ph.D, Associate Professor, Rehabilitation Research and Training Center, Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond, Va.
