The Art of Calligraphy, an exhibit created by the members of the Calligraphy Guild of Indiana (CGI), has arrived in Fishers at the Art Gallery at City Hall.

The exhibit opened on May 24 and will hold its free public Second Friday reception from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 13 at Fishers City Hall, 1 Municipal Drive.

Due to the upcoming Pacers Game viewing at the Nickel Plate District Amphitheater, which starts that evening at 8:30 p.m., art gallery patrons are encouraged to arrive closer to 6 p.m. to allow ample time to find parking in nearby parking garages.

The Second Friday reception will feature calligraphy demonstrations by CGI Vice President Julia Fish Thompson, live music by Scrapper & Skelton, many of the calligraphers on display, and refreshments for the family. An ASL interpreter from GLOBO will be available to assist in communications.

Come learn about The Art of Calligraphy and enjoy community connections through art.

CGI is dedicated to educating, nurturing, and promoting the art of calligraphy and related art forms. Its collective of calligraphers comes from across Indiana, united in a shared passion for the letter arts and a desire to grow as artists.

CGI members range in age from 14 to 84 and represent a wide spectrum of experience, from nationally recognized professionals to enthusiastic beginners just starting their journey into beautiful lettering. This diversity of skill creates a vibrant, supportive learning environment where everyone thrives.

The current show at The Art Gallery at City Hall in Fishers runs through June 28 and features over 80 works that showcase a wide variety of alphabets and creative presentations, demonstrating the depth and breadth of modern calligraphy.

CGI meets bimonthly in Zionsville, with additional teaching sessions held at local libraries in alternating months. Visit calligin.org to learn more about events, hire a calligrapher, or become a member of this dynamic, creative community.
