Sara Colter named Area Manager for T1L1 Mentoring

Colter

Sara Colter of Cicero has been hired as the new Area Manager for the Central Indiana Chapter of Teach One to Lead One (T1L1).

T1L1 is a community mentoring program that has helped to change the lives of thousands of young people, including students in central Indiana. It trains caring adult mentors from the local community to go into public schools, with life-changing results. T1L1 mentors meet with students in their classrooms to lead them through a curriculum that teaches ten universal principles: respect, integrity, self-control, courage, humility, excellence, compassion, enthusiasm, teamwork and honor. T1L1 guarantees three measurable, positive results from the mentoring program: students will experience better attendance, better grades, and better attitudes.

The Central Indiana chapter was established at Hamilton Heights High School in 2019. Colter has been a part of the Central Indiana Chapter since its inception. She was part of the first mentors to meet with students at Hamilton Heights. Last year, she served as the volunteer coordinator of mentors.

Since then, T1L1 has expanded into two more school districts. This fall, T1L1 will begin mentoring programs in Anderson at Anderson Intermediate School and in Indianapolis at Eastwood Middle School in Washington Township.
