Sandra Marie Clifford, 85, Arcadia, passed away on Sunday, January 15, 2023, at her home.
She was born May 20, 1937, in Cicero to Justus and Katherine (Applegate) Durnell and grew up in the Cicero area. She attended Jackson Township Schools and graduated from Jackson Central High School with the Class of 1955.
Sandy, as she was fondly known, married William “Bill” Clifford and they purchased a house on the outskirts of Arcadia. They also owned and operated Shell Service Station in Arcadia for several years. Sandy enjoyed her role as a homemaker, and she was known for keeping an immaculate home and yard. She also liked to ride her bicycle, and not just on short trips. Weather permitting, she would usually ride three or four times per week and travel over 20 miles. Occasionally she would ride from Arcadia to Tipton and back.
Sandy loved to fish and beginning in 1968 until 2022 she and her family took yearly vacation trips to Blue Lake Resort in Michigan. She really looked forward to those trips and the time spent with her family.
She is survived by her sons, Kelly Lee (Jackie) Clifford of Avon and Scott David (Linda) Clifford of Royal Center, Ind.; grandchildren, Jeremy, McKinsey, Ross, and Chad; great-grandchildren, Effie and Scout; and sisters, Marilyn Tidler of Kokomo and Sue Anderson of Arizona.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Funeral services were held on Monday, January 23, 2023, at Hartley Funeral Homes Cicero Chapel, 209 W. Jackson St., Cicero, with Pastor Mark Knapp officiating. There will be a time of visitation from 3 p.m. until time of the services. You may send condolences at our website, hartleyfuneralhomes.com.
