Royals cruise past Flashes for HCC victory

The Hamilton Southeastern girls basketball team traveled to Franklin Central on Wednesday and came home with a 52-29 Hoosier Crossroads Conference victory.
The Class 4A No. 10 Royals led 14-7 after the first quarter. In the second period, Southeastern took over, outscoring the Flashes 23-8 to hold a 37-15 halftime lead. The Royals never allowed Franklin Central more than eight points in one quarter.
Ryan Viele scored a career-high 24 points for Southeastern, including five 3-pointers. Riley Makalusky added 10 points and also pulled six rebounds and blocked two shots. Olivia Brown helped out with seven points, five rebounds and four assists. Viele, Jocelyn Davis and Teegan Acres (who was making her first varsity start) all collected four rebounds. Zoe Bolding had two blocks.
The Royals are 2-2 in the conference and 10-4 overall. Southeastern’s final three games of the regular season will all be HCC contests, starting with a Friday game at Zionsville as part of a girls-boys doubleheader.
