In Friday night’s game between Hamilton Southeastern and North Central, the host Panthers scored the first and last points.
The Royals scored all the points in between – 45 of them. Southeastern cruised its way to victory with a 45-13 win over North Central, improving to 2-0 for the season.
All phases of the Royals’ offense were productive. Southeastern’s first touchdown came midway through the first quarter on a 42-yard pass from Ty Bradle to Jack Wafford. Later, Owen Jones punched the ball in from the one-yard line, giving the Royals a 14-6 first-quarter lead.
Southeastern then rolled through the second period, scoring 28 points. Blaine Wertz had two touchdowns, an early 14-yard run, and a 30-yard pass from Jacobs with less than a minute to go in the half. Jacobs also connected with Dylan Conner for a 22-yard touchdown throw, and Jones took off on a 46-yard run.
Alex Geroulis kicked all six extra points after each touchdown, then added three more points in the third quarter on a 40-yard field goal.
Jones led the rushing with 105 yards. Jacobs completed four of six pass attempts, totaling 68 yards.
The Royals begin Hoosier Crossroads Conference play next week, hosting Avon.
