Royals beat Avon for 10th season win

Hamilton Southeastern’s girls won their 10th game of the season Friday, taking care of Avon 72-59 in a home Hoosier Crossroads Conference contest.

It was a close game for the first three quarters, although the Class 4A No. 2 Royals outscored the Orioles in all four periods. Southeastern led 19-18 after one quarter and 31-19 at halftime. The Royals began to pull away in the third quarter, which finished with HSE ahead 49-44. The Royals scored 23 points in the fourth to clinch the game.

Maya Makalusky scored 31 points, with Kayla Stidham adding 18 points, including three 3-pointers. Makalusky drained two 3s. Kennedy Holman had eight points, eight assists and seven rebounds, with Stidham also collecting seven rebounds. Kenley Johnson had five rebounds.

Southeastern is 4-0 in conference play and 10-1 overall. The Royals’ next game is Saturday, Dec. 16, when they travel to Fishers for the Mudsock game.
