Westfield’s girls basketball team wrapped up its regular season with a 56-42 win Tuesday at Ben Davis.
The two teams played to an 11-11 tie after the first quarter before the Shamrocks, ranked No. 7 in the ICGSA Class 4A poll and No. 8 in the IBCA one-class ratings, jumped ahead in the second period to take a 28-22 halftime lead. Westfield then had a solid defensive third quarter, holding the Giants to nine points. That allowed the ‘Rocks to hold a 43-31 advantage after three periods.
Alyssa Crockett led the Westfield scoring with 15 points and seven rebounds. Hailey Remaks was right behind with 14 points and also made five steals. Emmrey Collinsworth added nine points. Olivia Robey handed out five assists and blocked two shots.
The Shamrocks finished the regular season 18-4 and will host Sectional 8 next week. Westfield drew a bye and will play the winner of next Tuesday’s Hamilton Southeastern-Fishers first round game in the Friday, Feb. 4 semi-finals.
