Westfield rebounded from a tough Friday loss at Brownsburg to beat Fort Wayne Northrop Saturday afternoon, 59-40 at CSI Gymnasium.
The Shamrocks, ranked No. 4 in the ICGSA Class 4A poll and No. 6 in the IBCA one-class poll, were involved in a close first half with Northrop, leading 12-11 after the first quarter and 31-27 at halftime. But Westfield blasted through the third period, outscoring the Bruins 20-4 in that quarter, and kept its lead around that margin in the fourth.
Alyssa Crockett had another great game, reaching double-double status with 26 points and 11 rebounds, and hitting four 3-pointers. Crockett also made four steals. Emmrey Collinsworth scored 10 points, making two 3s along the way.
In Friday’s game, the Bulldogs took a 15-8 lead on the ‘Rocks after one quarter. Westfield cut that advantage to 25-22 by halftime, but Brownsburg finished the third period ahead 37-33 and outscored the Shamrocks 12-9 in the fourth.
Crockett scored 23 points, collected eight rebounds and made two blocked shots. Ellie Kelleher pulled five rebounds.
Westfield finished Hoosier Crossroads Conference play at 5-2, giving them second place. The Shamrocks are 17-4 overall and play their regular-season finale Tuesday at Ben Davis.
