After waiting a day because of weather, Westfield picked up a Hoosier Crossroads Conference victory Wednesday at Avon.
The Shamrocks beat the Orioles 59-49. Westfield established that 10-point margin after the first quarter, when it led Avon 19-9. The ‘Rocks then led 30-20 at halftime. Avon cut Westfield’s lead to 42-35 after three quarters, but a 17-point fourth period secured the victory.
Alyssa Crockett had another solid game, reaching double-double status with 22 points and 11 rebounds; she also made three 3-pointers and had four assists and two blocked shots. Ashtin DeCraene added 10 points, while Ava Henson collected seven rebounds to go with her eight points. Jessica Castor also added eight points.
The Shamrocks are 2-2 in conference play and 7-5 overall. Westfield returns to The Rock on Saturday afternoon to take on Noblesville in another HCC contest.
